It’s Time to Put Your Best Foot Forward

The start of a new year brings fresh starts, new opportunities, new goals and new dreams.  While you may not set New Year’s resolutions, you can set new goals for yourself. Whether you need to quit smoking, lose weight, or learn a new skill, a New Year offers a fresh perspective on the year that you won’t have any other time. The American Psychological Association (APA) cautions that the New Year isn’t meant to serve as a catalyst for sweeping character changes, but as a time for people to reflect on their past year’s behavior and promise to make positive lifestyle changes.

Aspiring to earn your next belt is admirable, but whether or not that happens is not directly within your control. Instead, make your goal something you alone are responsible for. For example, you can set out to do a certain number of push-ups each day or get a certain number of extra reps on a technique at each taekwondo class.

Top Tips For Taekwondo In The New Year

With the new year fast approaching, Taekwondo can provide a good basis as a philosophy for life. Taekwondo, as with other types of martial arts, requires that an individual develop a focus and discipline that can be applied to almost all other areas of life in order to maximize the chances of success. The following tips can help with almost any life situation, not just when engaging in the sport of Taekwondo.

1. Make The Correct Choice: 1. Life is full of choices. Each step of each journey faced in life is filled with choices. The first step of that journey involves the process of making decisions. Using those decisions, an individual should choose the route that will enable them to reach their goals.

2. Banish Negativity: Negative thoughts only serve to bring more negativity. Instead focus on the positive. Even in the face of adversity, find the positive in it and then build upon that aspect of the situation. Keep that positive aspect of the situation always in mind.
